SYNE Ratings today announced the appointment of Isabelle Laurent as Head of Carbon Ratings, effective immediately. Laurent joins from a background in carbon market verification and will lead SYNE's Carbon Ratings team through a period of rapid growth in both compliance and voluntary market demand.

The appointment comes as the EU's Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism moves toward its definitive regime, and as SYNE's own carbon-rated project pipeline has expanded significantly across forestry, renewable energy and industrial decarbonisation categories over the past year.

Laurent will report to SYNE's Chief Methodology Officer and will have oversight of the Carbon Ratings Methodology's ongoing development, including its Biomass Atlas satellite verification programme.

“Isabelle brings exactly the kind of hands-on verification experience we want at the head of this team, at exactly the moment carbon market scrutiny is intensifying. This is a growth area for us, and we wanted someone who has sat on the other side of the table from a ratings provider.”

Ginu George, Chief Executive Officer, SYNE Ratings

“Carbon markets are at an inflection point - buyers are done accepting thin verification. I'm looking forward to building on the rigor SYNE has already established with the Biomass Atlas programme.”
