You don't need to be an insider.
Some of the most useful reports come from people with no formal relationship to the company at all - a competitor who spotted a discrepancy, a researcher, or a member of the public. We accept reports from anyone with relevant, good-faith information.
Inside the company
Current or former employees, contractors, or board members with direct knowledge of how the company actually operates versus what it discloses publicly.
Around the company
Customers, suppliers, business partners, and investors who have observed something inconsistent with the company's public claims or disclosures.
Outside the company
Competitors, researchers, journalists, community members, and the general public - anyone with credible, specific information, even without a direct relationship.

Environmental

A report is a lead, not a verdict.
Nothing you submit is taken at face value or applied to a rating directly. Every report goes through the same staged validation process before it can influence anything.
Submission
Your report is logged and given a case reference. If you shared contact details, you'll receive an acknowledgement within 5 business days.
Intake & triage
An analyst reviews the report for specificity and relevance, and routes it to the team covering that company or sector.
Corroboration
The claim is checked against independent sources - public records, other disclosures, and any evidence you provided - before it's treated as credible.
Company right of reply
Where appropriate, the company is given an opportunity to respond to the specific, corroborated finding - not to the raw, unverified report itself.
Rating action
Only once a finding clears corroboration does it feed into the relevant methodology's controversy or data-quality assessment for that company.
Feedback
If you provided contact details, we'll let you know the outcome in general terms, consistent with the confidentiality owed to all parties.
A report being under review is never disclosed to the market and never, by itself, changes a rating. Only a corroborated finding - checked against independent sources and, where appropriate, put to the company - can feed into a rating action, consistent with the relevant product's published methodology.
You can report without giving your name.
Anonymous reporting. You are never required to identify yourself to submit a report. If you choose to remain anonymous, we won't ask for information that could reveal your identity, and we won't be able to follow up with you directly - your report will still be reviewed on its merits.
Non-retaliation. If you do identify yourself, SYNE Ratings will not disclose your identity to the company being reported without your explicit consent, except where required by law. We do not tolerate retaliation against anyone who reports in good faith, whether or not the report ultimately leads to a finding.
Data handling. Any personal information you provide is handled under SYNE Ratings' Privacy Policy. Evidence and case details are retained only as long as needed for the review and any resulting rating action.
Good faith. We ask that reports be made in good faith and based on genuine belief that the information is accurate. Reports found to be deliberately false or malicious will not be actioned, and may be referred to the relevant authority where appropriate.

What happens next.
Will this affect the company's rating immediately?
No. Your report is a starting point for review, not an input to a rating on its own. Only a finding that clears corroboration - checked against independent sources - can feed into a rating action.
Can I follow up on my report?
Only if you provided contact details when you submitted it. Anonymous reports can't be followed up on directly, since we have no way to reach you - but they're reviewed on the same basis as any other report.
Will the company know I made this report?
Not from us. We don't disclose a reporter's identity to the company being reported without explicit consent, except where required by law.
What if my report turns out to be inaccurate?
Reports made in good faith, even if they don't ultimately lead to a finding, are never held against the person who submitted them. We only decline to act on reports that appear deliberately false or malicious.
Is this the right channel for a security vulnerability?
No - for a security or data vulnerability in SYNE's own systems, please use our Responsible Disclosure channel instead. This page is for reporting concerns about a rated or unrated company.
