SYNE Ratings today announced a restructuring of the dimension weightings used in both its ESG Ratings and Sustainability Ratings methodologies, effective from the next quarterly rating cycle.

Governance has been expanded to formally absorb controversy tracking and disclosure quality scoring, both of which previously sat as standalone modifiers applied after the core score was calculated. A new Economic & Industry dimension has also been introduced, capturing sector-specific transition risk factors that were previously handled through manual analyst overlays.

Existing rated entities will see their next scheduled rating reflect the new structure automatically; no entity will see an unscheduled rating action solely as a result of the methodology change.

“Folding controversy and disclosure quality directly into Governance gives every rated entity one number that already reflects both, instead of a base score and a separate modifier investors had to reconcile themselves.”
